Director, Office of Innovation and EnterpriseReporting to the Vice Dean (Research) with secondary reporting to the COO, the Director will lead the Office of Innovation and Enterprise to commercialize intellectual property (IP) portfolio of the school including identifying commercial opportunities arising from LKCMedicine research, facilitating out-licensing of IP, formation of spin-out companies, procurement of early-stage funding from angels and venture capitals and promotion of collaborations with industry. He/she will work closely with the Assistant Dean (Innovation & Enterprise - to be created) and NTUitive to nurture focused IP strategies, advise Principal Investigators on RIE funding opportunities for innovation and enterprise and formulate commercialization strategies. He/she will support the inculcation of the innovation and entrepreneurship culture in LKCMedicine. The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), a partnership between Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) and Imperial College London (Imperial), is training a generation of doctors who will put patients at the centre of their exemplary medical care. The School’s primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. Named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian, the School, which was officially opened by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean on 28 August 2017, is a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research.
Graduates of the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme that started in 2013 will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, along with interdisciplinary subjects including engineering, technology, business and the humanities. Its first doctors will graduate in 2018 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), awarded jointly by NTU Singapore and Imperial.
