Job Description

Hiring a strong strategic consultant who develops and executes strategic communications strategies for theGroup Internal Audit and Legal, CoSec, and Shared Investigative Services functions.This role will include providing direct communications consultation to the Function Heads/Management Team (MT) members and their leadership teams. The roles will also include creating strategic communications plans and executing on the executive, internal and external communications tactics defined in those plans. Internal tactics will include communications from the function MT-level leader to the function’s employees and communications to all Standard Chartered employees via Group channels as needed. External and executive tactics could include media relations, positioning and prepping executives as speakers on strategic topics internally and externally, and social media (LinkedIn) support for some MT members.RESPONSIBILITIESStrategyServe as strategic consultants and advisors to MT-level leadersCreate and deliver communications strategies that drive the identity, culture, brand promise and strategic intent of the Bank to the functions you support; and externally as appropriate using function executives and partnering with CABM teamsProvide strategic and tactical communications advice to the MT members you support on proactive communications, demonstrating an authentic leadership style, and issues managementPartner with other Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing (CABM) teams as appropriate to leverage functional expertise and spokespeople to drive an external storytelling agenda that promotes Standard Chartered’s brand and reputation in key areas of differentiation. These activities could include media relations, social media and thought leadership/executive engagementAssist with cross-CABM work to further CABM’s strategic initiatives.Serve as a partner member of the function management teams that you directly support, representing the CABM function as a senior trusted adviserSynthesise themes and issues from the external environment and surface risks and opportunities to your clients and other partners in CABM and throughout the BankPractice effective risk management, escalating issues when neededBusinessCreate and deliver communications strategies that drive each function’s strategic priorities to its own employees, and when needed convey function messaging relevant to Group employees through Group channelsPartner with group content creation teams to create group-level storytelling and news content from the functions you support as appropriate, in line with content priorities for internal and external stakeholdersDevelop internal communications that reinforce the employee value proposition in a function-relevant way; and partner with the employer brand team in HR as needed to develop targeted communications strategies to promote our employer brand to support function-specific recruiting needsAdvise on positioning, presentation and timing of business and change initiatives being considered by the functions you supportEnsure that tone and messaging of function communications are aligned with the corporate narrative when we engage and communicate internally and externallyBuild and manage relationships with media important to each function’s strategic objectivesPartner with Issues Management lead on crisis management communications as needed, including staff and external communications; partner with internal teams as needed on client and regulatory communications in crisis situationsProcessesAccountable to risk control owners and/or Group policy owners for the implementation of policies and control standards set by them, ensuring compliance, and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite and building a culture of good conduct.  People & TalentLead through exampleBuild the appropriate culture and values in the communications you create for the functions you support and, where applicable, GroupRisk ManagementIdentify, report and escalate issues, risks, business intelligence to leadershipGovernanceEnsure that tone of voice, messaging, and behaviours are aligned with the corporate narrative when we engage and communicate internally and externallyRegulatory & Business ConductDisplay exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
