Job Description

Position SummaryThe Product Lifecycle Management Planner (also known as an Industrialization Planner) is a critical resource on all new product development and product phase-out teams across Rockwell’s businesses, ensuring that all material requirements for prototypes, pilots, and production start-up are properly managed. The position also works closely with product management during important product lifecycle changes, including series changes, large scale product redesigns, and end of life. The successful candidate will have a broad background in all aspects of planning, including procurement, production control, inventory management, product phase-out, and launching new products.Major responsibilitiesDetermine stocking strategies, should the new product be stocked or built to order at Available-For-Customer (AFC) date. Responsible for component and finished goods inventory levels both at time of product launch and at product discontinuation.Ensure the RFQ process with SSO/Purchasing is getting responses in a timely manner and frequently review material lists of critical components necessary to maintain the new product release schedules.Lead discussions with the Master Scheduler/Finished Goods Planner and plant Production Control Analysts to review inventory planning parameters required to successfully launch a product and maintain its supply chain health during initial production ramp-up or product phase-out.Coordinate the material requirements, purchase orders, and inventory plans to support all prototypes and pilot builds as well as acceleration into steady state operations (Post AFC), ensuring material availability for all pilots and prototypes to support the product development timeline. This will include managing material availability by setting and monitoring SAP exceptions, actual component usage, and following-up with suppliers on parts and materials needed to support operations.Coordinate and execute the Pre/Post AFC master schedule which includes working with the Master Scheduler/Finished Goods Planner to comprehend the monthly production of safety stock or targeted finished goods inventories.Creating, modifying, and maintaining realistic material, manufacturing, and procurement strategies for new product introduction and phase-out projects of diverse scope.Support for End-Of-Life material planning activities for product discontinuation to minimize inventory impact due to obsolescence. This requires a high level of materials project management since this may include manually monitoring inventory levels outside of the materials system.Education and Experience RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Operations/Manufacturing Engineering/Supply Chain or equivalent relevant experience.Typically requires a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience (i.e. Production and Inventory Control, Operations, Purchasing, or Manufacturing Engineering).Experience in material control/production planning environment.Evidence of analytical aptitude, multitasking and project management.Excellent analytical skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.Strong interpersonal skills, independent problem resolution, proven leadership ability necessary to be effective across functions and levels, and the ability to manage the requirement of others not directly supervised.Ability to plan and organize work to effectively perform assigned tasks, with minimal instruction, in a timely manner.Global business proficiency and understanding.Desired QualificationsAPICS Certification.Advanced manufacturing systems planning knowledge – SAP system requirements strongly preferred.Scheduling experience in discreet, job shop and/or flow manufacturing environment.Key Competency RequirementsStrong team leader/contributor, comfortable in leading cross functional and multi-cultural teams.High energy, driven and enthusiastic about opportunities to establish and implement new approaches.Possess well-rounded knowledge in supply chain, materials planning and logistics.Exceptional problem solving and project management skills.Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) to various levels of the organization.Proficient in dealing with language and cultural barriers.Capable of capturing and transforming an idea/concept into business opportunity and deliver positive results.
