Job Description

Hiring multiple headcounts5 days work weekBonusesThe Database Administrator (DBA) must be a Certified Oracle Database Administrator and/or Microsoft SQL Administrator in administration and troubleshooting, in a 24x7 enterprise setting (inclusive of manual discovery or post actions from automatic alerts).Incumbent is expected to perform Level 1 and Level 2 database related issues and be experienced in the following areas, but not limited to the following competencies:Database AnalysisDatabase Performance analysis, tuning and optimizationSQL CodingDatabase MigrationDatabase security features implementationDatabase backup and recoveryTechnical database documentationDaily health checks on the databaseVerification of database status and integrity during application upgrade or maintenanceDatabase housekeeping/optimization activities including but not limited to:Highlight and ensure sufficient data growthCreate/reallocate DB files, tables, indexes, rollback segments, (auto)extent management and other database objectsProviding advice to Operations Manager and Customers on database related issues as well as new technology and innovationsJob ResponsibilitiesDocument daily checks and status updateDevelop and update all necessary DB documentation (including checklist, operations manual and relevant changes to configuration settings) and DR setupReport monthly on database size and DB Uptime and PerformanceGenerate ad-hoc non-standard reports for incident/problem investigations, DB capacity planning or audit purposesDatabase ManagementCreate new DB creations, database network configuration, determine/adhere to guidelines for database structures and file layout, review and enhance scripts and procedures, proper management of transaction and redo/archive logsAssist in database purging and collaborate with Solutions Team to define the purging policy for each individual system, database re-indexing and database tuning, if requiredReview daily on log irregularities and follow-up actionsMaintain regular database maintenance schedulesMonitor the performance to discover and detect from on-start, the possible system anomalies which may impact business operations. This shall include system resource usage, Basic CPU utilization, Disk I/O, Basic network I/O, memory utilization of database buffers, shared pool, memory cache, inefficient SQL, long running queries, in-doubt transactions, temporary table space usage, job query analysis, lock and latch analysis, alert log errors, availability of required start-up services/components for low disk space/archive logs, blocking locks, core dump, interfaces and batch-jobsMonitor backups, recovery and replication for successful completionData ManagementMonitor object fragmentation, invalid objects and extent of failure detectionPerform Disaster Recovery (DR) for all the critical systems and ensure successful rebuilt of Production or DR servers, if necessaryIncident/Problem ManagementIncident detection and confirmation of production database systems shall include timely escalation to the Managed Helpdesk, and performing the DBA onsite services on physical database facilities, to rectify the incidents with root cause analysis in order to ensure permanent resolutionVerify and validate databases backup, recovery and replication statusReview, improve and document the database administration and operational guide on new or revised processes and procedures regularlyWork with customers/clients, service desk and third-party solutions vendor to resolve on the disrupted service and rectify the database integrity for the users promptly, to minimize business impact. This shall include applications that are undergoing upgrades.Assist the Operations and Project Lead on the issues related to database in daily operations or new projects implementationAny other ad-hoc duties as required or assignedJob RequirementsBachelor Degree in IT or equivalentAt least 5 years of Oracle and SQL Database support administrationGood understanding of a services business in a high tech environment from a supplier, integrator or operator’s perspectiveDemonstrated leadership ability and achievement orientedStrong analytical and problem solving skills, combined with ability to provide quick resolution to problemsExperience in database backup and disaster recovery implementationGood knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systemsEffective verbal and written communication skillsCustomer service oriented and an effective team playerOnly Singaporeans may apply
